Penryn College's Connor Davidson wins Falmouth Hotel Bowl
The Falmouth Hotel Bowl competition took place at Falmouth Golf Club last weekend.
This major contest is a 36-hole, Stableford competition run again this year over two days, which allowed the leaders to be sent out in reverse order on Sunday.
It was an excellent day for golf on Saturday and the scoring reflected it. In third place for the first 18 holes was local crime fighter Scott Pedlar, with 39 points.
Second on the day with 41 points was Falmouth Docks’ sponsored Steve Entwhistle and the overnight leader was Penryn College’s very own Connor Davidson, also with a classy 41 points.
Day two dawned for everyone with very similar conditions and it was no surprise that some new potential winners came out of the pack.
Notably Paul Collins, who having had a 39 points on Saturday, recorded a great 40 points on Sunday, to put himself in contention for the overall win.
Breaths were held, as all eyes turned to see how the leading three had fared.
It was the youthful Connor, who held his nerve to return a second 41 points, for a competition total of 82 points.
Prizes were kindly provided by the Falmouth Hotel and presented by hotel manager, Ben Young.
