CSWPL division one west: Helston Athletic thrash Hayle at home

Helston Athletic bounced back from last week's 5-1 defeat away at Godolphin, by putting four goals past Hayle on Saturday afternoon.

Having stumbled to a 2-2 draw away at Hayle already this season, Helston were lucky not to go into the half-time break trailing after Tom Russell tripped Frazer Cadman in the box.

However, after the break Helston were back to their best. Mark Goldsworthy gave them the lead as he latched onto Nigel Thwaites through ball and rolled a shot past Hayle keeper Danny Burrows.

On 62 minutes Liam Eddy made it 2-0, again Thwaites was the provider. Goldsworthy then added a third from the penalty spot, before Eddy completed the scoring late on.

The result keeps Helston in second place, although they failed to close the gap on league leaders Godolphin who maintained their 100 per cent start to the season by beating Sticker 2-0 away.

Elsewhere in the CSWPL division one west Callington thrashed Mousehole 9-1 and Penryn Athletic recorded a good 3-0 home witn against Holsworthy.

Having been deducted ten points for going into administration, Truro City Reserves are now on minus six points after they beat St Dennis 4-1 away.

Perranporth picked up their fourth win of the season by beating Vospers Oak Villa 3-1.

Foxhole are still searching for their first points of the season though as they lost 6-1 at home to Dobwalls.
