Truro City manager Lee Hodges says he and his players ‘will all be walking’ if it is revealed that either party in talks to buy the club is connected to the old regime.
City have until 5pm tonight to secure a £50,000 bond to cover travel expenses or they will face expulsion from the Football Conference.
“Everyone is hoping and praying we can make a fresh start now and get the club back on track,” said Hodges, whose players trained as normal on Tuesday evening.
“Nobody wants to see Truro City fold, or to leave the club if at all possible.
“But I’m bound to say it was also made very clear – as I’m sure it is well-known anyway – that if it emerges that a prospective new owner has any connection whatsoever with the old regime, then we will all be walking and seeking a fresh start elsewhere.”
The club were on the brink of being kicked out of the league last week after a deadline set by the Football Conference expired.
But the last-minute revelation that two potential buyers had stepped forward prompted an emergency meeting of the league’s board of directors, who granted a one-week reprieve.
Truro City have been in administration since August, when chairman Kevin Heaney was declared bankrupt and left the club.
