GORRAN 370-4 REDRUTH 373-6 This sensational win by Redruth must go down as one of the greatest run chases in Cornwall Cricket League history.
When Gorran posted the third highest ever county division one total, in the 19 years since the east and west joined, they must surely have been little doubt they would consolidate their advantage over the “Reds” at the top of the table.
Dave Guffick (88) and Nick King (66) put on 132 in only 18 overs to get the response off to a great start. Richard Brown made 20 but the dismissals of Guffick, Brown and Liam Norwell (4) at 196 for four put Gorran back into the game. Kolynn Tai and Nigel Hambly (43) then put on 138 in just 14 overs.
Tai, following his 151 not out last week, went on to make 103 off 67 balls with five sixes and 12 fours. It left Aaron Penberthy (13 not out) and Steve Kevern to seal victory with eight balls to spare. 175 had been needed off the last 20 overs and 92 off the last ten.
Earlier Redruth had looked doomed to a third successive defeat when Craig Davies and Chris Lovell both hit centuries and put on 214 for the first wicket in just 32 overs. Phil Bostock took three for 71 from ten overs. Bottom club Bude who are still without a win, travel to Trewirgie with some trepidation on Saturday for the start of the second half of the season.
Redruth are 17 points behind leaders Grampound Road but have played a game more.

grampound 258-7 camborne 217 The leaders Grampound Road were always on target for a big score at Roskear after Dave Legge and Jake Preston put on 132 for the first wicket. Legge, who had to bat with a runner, was eventually run out with a fine throw from Luke Johnson for 46. Johnson then claimed the wickets of Preston for 91 and Tom Hughes for 38. Matt South made 39 before becoming one of two victims for Giles Head in the last over.
All but two of the home batsmen got into double figures but no one could make the really big score to threaten as half the side were dismissed for 85. Jack Thomas then carried his bat for a superb 123 to see Beacon home with just two balls remaining. Kevin Thomas made 25 while Kevin Knowles with four for 52 almost brought victory. Beacon host Paul seconds on Saturday. Josh Wingfield took two for 38 and made top score of 43 not out in Redruth seconds 91 run defeat by Mullion.
The division three title race is back in the melting pot following Barripper’s home defeat to second placed Constantine, who are 18 points behind with a game in hand. Adam Rodda (35) and Mark Trestrail looked to be getting the home side into a good position with 62 for the third wicket but only Keith Green with 25 offered much thereafter in the 178 all out.
Former Falmouth player Richard Kellow made 137 not out to dominate the Constantine reply as they won by five wickets. Crofty/Holman had an emphatic ten wicket win at Troon seconds. Alan Shears, returning to his old haunts, made 70 not out and Kevin Mankee 62 not out in the 140 without loss.
