PLAYER/COACH Alan Paver has been named in the Cornish Pirates starting XV for their Greene King IPA Championship clash with Moseley at the Mennaye on Sunday.

The 36-year-old who is now the club's defence coach is one of five changes made to the side who were beaten 45-17 by a strong Bristol outfit last weekend.

Alongside Paver, who will be in the tighthead prop position in place of Tyler Gendall, Jack Andrew will join the front row at loosehead replacing Jamal Ford-Robinson.

Will Carrick Smith, who stands at 6ft 11ins tall, has also been brought into the pack at lock with a reshuffle seeing Laurie McGlone moved to number eight and Matt Bolwell dropped to the bench.

It will be the first time Paver has started a match since February 28, when the Pirates last played Moseley, losing 28-20 away, and the forward said he is hoping to help the team chalk up their first points of the season.

"If we show further improvement from our games to date and can play with lots of energy then we should be in a position to win," he said.

“We do understand the challenge that a Moseley side littered with experience will pose, but we have experienced performers too and there's also the added support of our very special home crowd."

In the backs, Matt Evans returns at full back while Tom Hendrickson starts as inside centre while Kyle Moyle moves to wing.

Rheon James and Luke Jones, who both started at Ashton Gate on Sunday, have not been included in the matchday squad.
