IAN Davies believes the Cornish Pirates will have another tough test against Doncaster Knights when they meet in the British & Irish Cup on Saturday.

The tie comes a fortnight after the Pirates secured a 24-22 victory in the Greene King IPA Championship over the same team away from home.

With the Knights winning their opening pool game of the competition against Welsh outfit Cross Keys, Davies said the Yorkshire team have already shown they mean business in the cup.

The Pirates’ director of rugby added with their win still fresh in their minds, they will have to be on their best form to get more success against them.

Davies said: “It will be a tough game as Doncaster are a decent side and they will still be smarting from the defeat two weeks ago.

“When you look at the line-up they put out against Cross Keys, it was a strong side and it tells you they are taking the cup seriously.

“We’ll have to patch a few people up and get them going and if we keep performing with the endeavour, work rate and confidence we’ve shown lately, we will come away with a win.

“If we don’t show that, then it’ll be in a dog fight.”
