Cornwall coach Dave 'Benji' Thomas has labelled this weekend's Bill Beaumont Cup clash away at Hertfordshire as the crunch match in this season county championship.
Thomas, who saw his side beat Gloucestershire 23 points to 16 at the weekend, feels the winner of Saturday match at Hertford will be off to the final at Twickenham “The biggest crunch match will be this weekend away at Hertfordshire," he said.
“They (Herfordshire) are an immensely strong side. They beat North Midlands quite comfortably on Saturday. So I think we (Cornwall and Hertfordshire) are looking at the weekend's game and both thinking, whoever wins that match will probably be going to Twickenham. We have got North Midlands to play at Camborne a week later, but the real test will come at the weekend."
Thomas also added that he has a strong squad to choose from.
“Everybody who played on Saturday will be training again on Wednesday. We will certainly be picking from a very strong 22-man squad. To start off with Gloucestershire at home was a bonus. They were a big side, but I think the fact that we had a couple of good training sessions before that, plus a warm-up win against Devon brought the side closer together.”
