Jack Nowell will make his senior debut for the Cornish Pirates against Newport at the Mennaye Field on Saturday (ko 5pm).

The talented young Exeter 'Chief', whose rugby development started in the Pirates youth section, is dual-registered with the club, and he scored what was the try of the match for Exeter in their win against the Pirates last weekend, eating up half the length of the field in mesmeric style with  a scintillating run that ended at the posts.

Two more gifted young players to have trained with the Pirates of recent, wing Ed Tellwright and fly-half/full-back Jamie Forrester, are also named in the squad.

Tellwright, who starred for London Welsh in the recent J. P. Morgan Sevens, has played for Rotherham and England Students, and will start on the wing. As for replacement Forrester, he represented Zimbabwe U20s in this summer's Junior World Rugby Trophy competition held in America and he has also played for his country in the IRB Sevens.
Of interest the Cornish Pirates and Newport have met twice in recent years, and with a win apiece there's perhaps a little extra to play for at the Mennaye Field on Saturday (ko 5pm).

Both previous games were in the British & Irish Cup, with the Pirates winning 26-20 at Camborne in March, 2010, and the 'Black & Ambers' getting their revenge with a 34-32 home victory in January, 2011. A present day 'Pirate', Canadian international Matt Evans, scored two tries for the victorious Newport side in the win at Rodney Parade, and another Pirates squad member, centre Tom Riley, has also starred for them in the past.

Supporters will be delighted to note that there are 'friendly' prices for this final pre-season   encounter. Admission is just £10 for adults, whilst children under 16 will be admitted free - also includes stand seating, covered or otherwise, on a first come first served basis.

Season ticket holders should note that their season ticket covers their entry to the game but their ticket, as intimated above, does not guarantee them their chosen seat. The advice is to arrive early - note the gates and beer tent will be open two hours before kick-off.

Tickets can be purchased from the club's ticket office, telephone 01736-331961, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon. For all other information and to book tickets on-line please visit www.cornish-pirates.com
