Wendron United gained ground on Combination leaders Illogan - not to mention revenge for their league cup-semi final defeat against the same opposition a week ago - by thrashing St Day 5-1 at Vogue Park.

The result, coupled with Illogan's 1-1 draw away at Perranwell, means Wendron are now 18 points off top spot, but with five games in hand on the league leaders, who visit Underlane next weekend.

The outcome of that game could go a long way towards deciding who will win promotion to division one west.

There were wins for both second place Ludgvan, who hammered Falmouth Town 5-1, and third place Redruth United, who were pushed all the way by Falmouth Athletic in a seven goal thriller at the Dracaena Centre which ended 4-3 to the visitors.

But the day's big winners - yet again - were Mullion, who dismantled Goonhavern 11-0 at Clifden Parc.

Elsewhere St Agnes overcame Hayle 2-1 at home.

Jolly's Cornwall combination League results:

Falmouth Ath 3 - 4 Redruth United
Ludgvan 5 - 1 Falmouth Town
Mullion 11 - 0 Goonhavern
Perranwell 1 - 1 Illogan RBL
St Agnes 2 - 1 Hayle
