CORNWALL Under13 Girls have been crowned champions of the ECB Women’s U13 County Development League-Group Three.

Coached by current and former Cornwall Minor Counties opening batsmen Matt Rowe and David Roberts, the girls have won seven out of their seven fixtures this season, scoring over 1,000 runs.

Their success has a lot to do with the commitment and passion shown during the summer and winter months.

The squad, pictured below, trained fortnightly at the Cornwall Cricket Centre for 12 sessions during the winter and continued to put in extra hours of training in between fixtures during the summer.

Although there were several high scores and match winning performances during the 2014 season, a special mention has to go to Alice Bebb for scoring over 200 runs with an average of 72, leaving her the third highest runs scorer in the country for her age group.

This along with the success of the County Ladies team this season proves that there are plenty of opportunities for women and girls’ to play cricket in Cornwall.
