Regular wickets went down but the home side were always ahead of the run rate. Mullion fielding with 10 men due to a Pearson injury, had 2 overs to bowl, with Botallack/St Levan needed only 6 runs.

Trevor Lee then produced a maiden with a tight over, this left Mike Cockings to bowl the last over with 6 still required. With a single and a 2 off the first five balls, 3 were needed off the last ball.

A square drive was hit wide of Charlie Hearn who chased it down and returned a throw for Grose to whip of the bails with the batsman short of a tying second run.

For Mullion Charlie Hearn ended up with 3 for 44 and there were wickets each for Jonty Wheatley, Trevor Lee and Mike Cocking who held his nerve bowling his best over of the game at the death.
