GYMNASTS showed off their flexible skills in Helston to top off their summer workout.

The Swallows of Helston, which has members from the town along with Falmouth, Redruth and Camborne, hosted a showcase displaying all they have learnt over the last four weeks during the school holidays.

Lessons in ballet, jazz, street dance and acrogym where given to students aged between three and 23-years-old and 50 of the group performed at the showcase.

The event started off with an exhibition from the Swallow’s display team before the pre-school gymnasts performed dressed up as bees and ladybirds.

There was then a tumbling display from the recreational members before a song and dance.

To finish proceedings off, a competition was held between the boys and girls to determine which sex has to perform on the harder apparatus.

Each group swapped over their normal apparatus with the boys doing floor, vault, beam, asymmetric bars and range and conditioning displays.

The girls competed on the high bar, parallel bars, rings, floor and a physical preparation programme during the competition.

Both groups dressed up as the opposite sex during their performances, which brought much laughter from the audience who ended up deciding the females just pipped their male colleagues.
