Wendron United were shocked at home by Helston in the Jolly's Cornwall Combination League on Saturday.

The close neighbours are now even closer in the table as Helston drew level with Wendron on 18 points after their 3-1 victory.

Both sides started well in what was an exciting match, but the only goal in the first half would come from Andy Miles for Helston via a well struck free kick just outside the box.

The match continued in the same vein after the break, with both sides playing good football, but Helston were more ruthless in front of goal, extending their lead through Ben Leach and Jamie Thirkle.

Andy Miles' brother Justin, playing for Wendron, scored a late consolation goal for the hosts in the last minute from the penalty spot.

Wendron remain ahead of Helston in the table on goal difference alone, as they each stand with six wins and three losses from nine games.
