ORGANISERS of a football tournament held at Wendron United’s home have presented Cancer Research UK with a cheque worth £2,841.
The Sharon Wood Mini-Soccer Tournament is held every July at Underlane in memory of the former club member who died in 1999.
Since the first competition was held in 2000, more than £81,000 has been raised for the charity and the team’s youth section.
Margaret Eva, Helston fundraiser for the charity, collected the cheque and said: “Without support like this from this fantastic Mini-Soccer Tournament, Cancer Research UK’s work would not be possible as we rely overwhelmingly on donations from the public.”
