CAMBORNE once again came on strong in the final quarter to this time claim a bonus point away win at Cullompton.

The victory which sees Town climb one place to fourth spot in the Tribute South West One table was built upon a superb all round performance from their forward pack. Prop Leigh Hocking, lock Tony Whittle and flanker James Goldsworthy were all prominent throughout for the visitors.

With Ben Drew injured in training and Grant Thirlby ill, the Cherry and Whites reshuffled their back line reverting Joe Parma to full back with Rob Floyd and Aaron Hunt getting first starts of the season on the wings.

The visitors got their noses in front early on when impressive number eight David Roberts handed off a couple of tacklers to cross for an unconverted score wide out.

The home side replied with a penalty before, still inside the first quarter, the Camborne pack were illegally halted on a powerful drive for the line.

Mankee converted the deserved penalty try to make the score 12-3.

Cullompton dominated the second quarter and by the time the interval arrived they had built a lead of 16-12 after a converted try and a brace of penalty successes.

Early in the second half, centre Steve Kenward broke the home cover and 'Town' went through several phases of attack before flanker Cameron Bone plunged over for a narrow one point advantage.

Cullompton hit back with a converted score to retake the lead, but back came Camborne with their fourth try of the afternoon as hooker Sam Bartle touched down after a strong forward surge from a close range lineout.

Fly-half Mankee's conversion gave his side a 24-23 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

The Cherry and Whites pack then turned the screw from a five metre scrum driving the home eight back to force the concession of a second penalty try that Mankee easily improved from in front of the uprights to seal victory.
