BUDOCK Vean Golf Club had their annual Cornish vs The Rest four ball competition on Sunday.

It proved to be a momentous occasion as for the first time in several years, the Rest led by club captain Paul Upperton took the crown off the Cornish team with a 5-2 win.

A comical situation occurred during the presentation of the trophy traditionally done by the losing skipper.

When Brian Martin went to hand the cup over, he admitted he was lost for words as he had only prepared a winning captain’s speech due to the dominance in recent times of the Cornish side.

Other wins on the course during the week went to Martin Salome who handed the very windy conditions best last Tuesday to claim the Senior’s Stableford contest with a score of 39 points.

The following day, the ladies played for a medal in conjunction with Flag Day.

Each player was given the amount of strokes to make par at the course plus whatever their handicap was.

A total of four women went round the course with shots remaining to play a 19th hole, with the eventual winner being Mae Brown who’s last shot made it just short of the green.
