SUNDAY saw a good turnout for the first Autumn Greensome at Falmouth Golf Club, writes Keith Rashleigh.

A total of 23 pairs took the field on a lovely day spoiled only by a heavy shower for the last few pairs.

Coming out on top were the duo of Gordon Kelly and Pauline Clifton who scored 41 points, putting them one ahead of Mark Trewin and Mo Hammond.

Ray Hudson and Rebecca Beer carded a score of 39 to claim third place overall.

Another mixed greensome will be held at the club on November 23 and hopefully another good turnout will inspire more to play.

A day earlier, the second round of the Fourball Winter League was played off three-quarters handicaps with some terrific golf being played.

Richie Perrin and Matt Roberts with 43 Stableford points must have thought they were in with a good chance of winning.

But then this was topped by Chris Beer and Mark Trewin with 44, a score soon matched by Paul Martin and Nick Morrison.

But these would still not prove to be the winning score as Martin Lawden and Dan Briers eclipsed it a brilliant haul of 47.
