SATURDAY saw another perfect winter’s day for golf at Falmouth Golf Club with scoring to match for round four of the Winter League played in pairs off ¾ handicaps, writes Keith Rashleigh.

Runaway winners were Paul Collins and Pete Lewis with a fantastic better ball haul of 49 stableford points. They were two under par gross at the turn with 24 points on the card including two four pointers at the 3rd and 7th holes. The back nine was even better as they carded a further 25 points with another brace of four pointers at the 15th and 17th holes.

Runners up on countback were Paul Kneebone and Steve Jones who scored 21 on the outward nine before storming back in 2 under par gross for 25 points on the homeward for an impressive 46 points. Alan Mackay an Steve Briers also played well for 46 points with respective nines of 24 and 22 points with an impressive level par round.

Simon Hirst and Grant Nicholls returned another fine score of 45 points when following a quiet start with 20 points after nine they carded four birdies on the back nine at the 11th, 12th, 13th and 17th holes to climb into the prizes by finishing fourth.

This Saturday is the Christmas Draw Scramble with a shotgun start at 9.30am.
