PROCEEDINGS are getting tense as the West Cornwall Table Tennis season draws to a close.

Falmouth Dock A sit just a single point behind leaders Bridge A in the Premier Division, but their challenge got a welcome boost with a 7-3 victory over their title rivals.

Mark Meijvis and Adrian Noott starred for the Dockers with both players winning three games.

They continue to keep the pressure on Bridge with another 7-3 victory, this time against Docks F, although they could have gone top had they not fielded just two players.

A game in hand is held by the current table toppers, who recorded a 7-3 victory over Docks C with Will Abouelhana winning all three of his ties.

Their opponents avenged their defeat by whitewashing Docks F in their next match with Chris Peters teaming up with David and Jamie Bassett to do the goods.

It is just as close in Division One as Mylor A and Peoples Palace B battling for the title.

The teams played each other in the latest round of matches with Palace leapfrogging their opponents to top spot with a 7-3 win.

After this, they went into their next match with Harris Mill and came out 10-0 victors to open a five point gap at the top.

A hammering was dished out by Mylor to their B team as they bagged a 9-1 win, although the score could have been very different look as five of the singles matches when to a fifth end, with all going in favour of the As.

Saracens are having a slightly easier time in Division Two as they lead the league by 33 points heading into the last few rounds of matches.

Coming up against St Ives C and Mylor C, the Penryn-based side recorded a couple of 9-1 wins with Morgan Cardell and Aiden Rollason not losing any of their games.

It was a big blow for Mylor who are second in the table and they did not get any more luck in their next tie as they fell to a 7-3 defeat against Mounts Bay B.
