DAVID Penrose moved into the lead of Budock Vean's Gentlemen's Winter League competition with just one round to go.

On Sunday, he carded an excellent 44 points to take his overall total to 167 and put him ahead of Paul Upperton who sits on 165 and third placed Charlie Averiss, who has a score of 164.

The latter is also in contention for the seniors title as he sits just a point behind leader David Stevens with just one round left to play.

On Wednesday, the club's female members held a Waltz 1-2-3 competition, which sees teams of three count their best score on the first hole, two on the second and all three on the third.

This carries on around the course and coming out on top where Barbara Craig, Tricia Blatter and Fay Joffee with 66.
