A VICTORY at Taw Valley rounded off Falmouth Ladies’ away trips for the 2014/15 season on Saturday.

They made a bright start but were unable to break through the home defence while creative winger Rachael Tatlow was kept quiet as she was man-marked.

Taw nearly took the lead when the ball went into goal, but the umpires said it had come off a Falmouth stick and therefore did not count.

Just before the break, Falmouth did take the lead when Kat Barbery-Redd intercepted a pass and put Amy Tatlow in to score.

Early in the second half Taw dominated possession with away skipper Megan Cookson having to make several challenges to prevent shots on goal.

Falmouth then doubled their lead on a counter attack from a penalty corner as Viv Cobner moved the ball out of defence to the other Tatlow sister who put the ball past Taw’s goalkeeper.

Hannah Bowman kept the hosts out with a couple of good saves before Cobner turned provider again as she delivered a ball to Barbery-Redd who with space in front of her slammed the ball home.

Taw grabbed a late consolation goal, but by then the damage had been done and Falmouth head into their final match of the season, against Teign on Saturday, knowing a win could help them bag second place if other results go their way.
