GRAHAM Dawe has said the annual derby clash with Devon will play a “crucial” part in deciding this year’s Cornwall side for the County Championship.
The Tamar Cup will be contested again at Brickfields in Plymouth on Tuesday evening with the kick-off at 7.45pm.
For several weeks the provisional squad for the Duchy have been in training building up to this game and the three they will play in the Bill Beaumont Cup during May.
Looking ahead to the match with Devon, Dawe said it will play an important role in helping decide the best XV for the games which follow afterwards.
Dawe said: “This game is crucial to allow us to observe players in the County shirt and how they perform under that additional pressure.
“We have away games against Gloucestershire and then Kent, before our only home game this season against Hertfordshire and there will certainly be pressure on everyone involved with this squad “Places for those 3 games are up for grabs and players who perform well in training and for their clubs games are in mix for selection.”
