ANOTHER big entry was attracted to Falmouth Golf Club on Saturday as the popular ETS Cups were contested, writes Keith Rashleigh.

The course was in excellent condition and peaking at the right time for the clubs Golf Week which celebrates its 20th anniversary all this week.

The triumvirate of Matt Roberts, Paul Caunter and Darren Horton carded an excellent combined aggregate of 84 stableford points, 42 points on each nine, with the two best scores counting on each hole to take the cups by one point.

Finishing second were Dave Holland, Richie Perrin and Ben Browning with the latter being the undoubted star of the day, hitting eight birdies, which for the record were at the third, fourth, fifth, 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th and 18th holes.

Andy McKnight, Crispen Merritt and Charlie Scorse came third with 82 points and fourth were Gerry Storey, Andy Anderson and Gary Muchan with 81 points.

The Festival of Golf starts today and under the stewardship of club captain Barry Lawrence more golfers are getting a chance to play later in the day because the presentations will all take place on Saturday evening instead of every evening.

Director of Golf Steve Burrows has confirmed entries have certainly increased and the presentations will take place at approximately 7pm with some impressive prizes on the table.

This will be followed by live entertainment from The Flaming Infidels starting at 9pm, with food available from the catering team.
