EUAN Beattie had a good racing weekend skippering Aura as they topped two events at Mylor Yacht Club, writes Stephen Nicholls.

First places were secured on Friday night in the opening Mylor Chandlery and Rigging Series race of the season before picking up victory in the third race of the Skinners Brewery Pursuit Series.

An excellent turnout of 25 boats competed in the MCR event with a westerly ten to 12 knots wind holding up throughout.

In E Class, 4Play made a port start and was second to finish but on handicap was placed fourth as Aura took top spot.

U Class saw nine entrants who all made an excellent start with Wizard of Clee first to finish, also securing victory on handicap.

Tilly of Mylor led the fleet in Q Class throughout the race with Rococco, sailed single handed by Clive Hoyle, second overall.

A close race was had by the six Shrimpers in H Class with Henrietta making the most of their decision of using a port hand start to win as their course got shortened at the Pascoe Boatyard mark.

Sunday saw the third race of the SBP Series with a eight to 12 knot north-easterly breeze blowing along the course.

Aura's crew claimed their second victory of the weekend ahead of Wizard of Clee, with Nightowler finishing third.
