THERE was double delight for Falmouth Gig Club's super-veterans as they brought home two titles from the County Championship's in Saltash on Sunday.

Both the men's and women's crews put in dominant performance during the regatta as they triumphed in every race they took part in to pick up their respective trophies.

For the females, they were looking to avenge their second place finish at the World Championships in May and the team defended their county title, pushing Salcombe into second place and Ilfracombe third.

Falmouth's male boat also controlled proceedings, winning every round and finishing ahead of Teign and host club Caradon in the final.

After the races were finished, the club's rowing development officer Nick Maxted said: "It was a really great day for Falmouth, and a really well run event by the Caradon Club.

“Neither the men’s nor ladies’ crews rowed at their best in the first rounds, but as the day wore on, the quality of rowing and experience of the crews enabled them to get ahead and control their races from the front”.
