THE Martin Furze Cup attracted 88 entries on Saturday at Falmouth Golf Club in near perfect weather, writes Keith Rashleigh.

Pete Chambers deservedly won with a good score of net 63, including a birdie at the sixth hole.

His nearest challenger was Charlie Scorse who carded birdies at the 13th and 17th followed by an impressive Eagle at the par five 18th hole, only to come up two shots short.

Third was Mike Watmore with a solid net 66 including a birdie at the second while fourth place went to Neil Dickinson also with a 66 which included an impressive collection of birdies at the third, ninth, 13th 16th and 17th holes.

Ben Browning came fifth and shared the distinction of best gross of the day with his 71 alongside Scorse.

His fine round included a birdie at the ninth and remarkably par all the other holes.

On Sunday, the Mixed Greensomes was well won by Andy Anderson and Ella Richards with a fine haul of 38 stableford points.

Runners-up were club captain Barry Lawrence partnering Angela Cortis with 37 and third with 36 were Tony Annear and Carol Sanz.

Female past captains also came to the club last Wednesday for their annual Stableford competition, with the Den Woolcock Cup at stake, with Mo Hammond winning with an excellent haul of 39.
