TONY Ramsden overcame the field and horrific weather conditions to retain the David Sadler Memorial Trophy at Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday.

The trophy was dedicated to Sadler who was a well respected and liked member of the club and, for a while, worked on the course as a grounds man.

Ramsden’s game was impeccable and he won the trophy with net 65 and the lowest gross of the day 73, which was astonishing due to the horrendous weather.

Ron Gibson fought gallantly through the wrath of the rain to claim second place on countback from Piran Trezise, with 66.

Wednesday night witnessed a fearsome mixed Foursome Medal competition for the Cook-Martin Shield.

The event was fun yet challenging and left some competitors struggling due to elaborate shots from their partners.

Geoff Mills and Jenny Wake won with an outstanding net score of 69.5 with second going to Fay Joffe and Paul Upperton with 72.

Completing the podium was Tricia Blatter and Steve Gilkes after the pair scored 73.

Bob Hartnell tasted victory in the senior’s stableford competition with 10 points.

Second place was the senior’s captain, Andrew Varney with 38 and Mills finished third with a respectable score of 36.
