SUNDAY’S Monthly Medal Competition at Budock Vean Golf Club proved to be a huge success with outstanding scores all around.

Scores in their 60s were recorded by two-thirds of the field, but bettering this to win was James Grenville-Smith who finished with a net score of 58, which proved to be the best of the year so far.

Following from his impressive rounds with the seniors earlier in the week, Rod Butler came in second place with a 64, followed by Ashley Jackson, Tony Grace, Geoff Mills and Piran Trezise who all scored 65.

Grenville-Smith's form has been good lately as proven by his success a fortnight ago in the Garden Salvers alongside Trezise.

The club's seniors recently played two medal competitions, the first being the Monthly Medal won by Tony Grace with a superb net round of 63.

David Gibbons and Peter Robinson tied with net 65s in second place, but the latter was declared as the runner-up on countback.

Champion of Champions followed next with Butler taking the top prize with an outstanding net round of 61.

The Ladies enjoyed their Captain's Day, playing a Stableford competition which was won by Jenny Wake on 41 points, with Barbara Craig finishing with the best front nine score, 18, and Barbara Barlow's total of 21 giving her the best back nine.

Last Tuesday, all Ladies wore pink for the Pink Day Stableford with all proceeds going to the captain Nina Hann's chosen charity, BF Adventure.

The clubs charity event is on Sunday with all pairs, including visitors, welcome for a four ball better-ball competition.

Entry costs £10 per person and can be booked by calling 01326 252102.
