FOREST Dunn has been forced to take the rest of the season off after a crash at the Ulster GP left him with several broken bones.

The harsh realities of motorbike racing hit home during a practice session when the Falmouth rider was involved in an accident on the street circuit in County Antrim.

Dunn was rushed to hospital where doctors found the 27-year-old had broken his femur, rotator cuff and a vertebrae along with injury his ankle.

Many supporters posted get well messages on his Facebook and Twitter profiles and on Sunday, Dunn sent an update from his hospital bed in Belfast.

Dunn said: "So my femur is pinned and screwed, my ankle is in plaster, I did my rotator cuff again and broke one of my vertebrae.

"On the upside the bike doesn't look terminal, there's a big stash of jelly and chocolate and I got a fancy Michael Jackson glove.

"I'm officially taking the rest of the season off due to my expected recovery time so I can focus on getting strong again and getting ready for 2016.

"I just want to thank all the people helping me out and their best wishes but a special thanks to Billy Bennett, Karla Wilson, Drea Neil, Uncle Phil, Noel Johnston and the Ulster GP team, the paramedics who first attended me and the lovely staff at Belfast Hospital for looking after me."

Scottish rider Andy Lawson was tragically killed in another crash on the course during the weekend.
