MARK Lewarne recorded a top 30 at the World Triathlon Championships in Chicago on Thursday as part of Team GB's squad.

The Penryn College teacher participated in the Men's Sprint 30-34 age category race in the American city and clocked an overall time of 1:07.49.

Competitors had to complete a 750m swim, a bike ride of just over 18km and a 5km run.

Brazil's Joao Ferreira took home gold while Britain's Benjamin Terry and Paul Ryman came second and third respectively.

Earlier in the week, Lewarne came 23rd in the same age group for the aquathlon race, completing the course in 34.35.
