Plymouth University ll 0:4 Falmouth ll

Falmouth 2’s travelled to Lipson College, Plymouth, for this Trelawney League 1 match, with a number of players unavailable but this result shows the depth of talent within the squad. Falmouth dominated the match but were restricted in their goal quest by the University goalkeeper who was in outstanding form. At the other end Falmouth ‘keeper June Moore had an exceptionally quiet afternoon, only touching the ball once in the whole game.

Falmouth attacked from the whistle but were not able to get the ball over the goal line until mid-way through the first half when Suzanne Bull managed to push the ball passed the ‘keeper. Many shots on goal were cleared as the visitors piled on the pressure but they were not able to add to their lead before half time.

In the second half Falmouth maintained their control of the game with the mid-field of Emily Dunstan, Iona Middleton, Hatti Sydenham and Hannah Whear snuffing out any sign of attack from the home team. Good, supporting team play meant that the University could not find a way through as there was always another Falmouth player to beat. Iona Middleton gave Falmouth a more comfortable score line before Alice Bowman added two goals to make the game safe. Captain, Hannah Whear, led by example, with good, positive play and was voted Player of the Match. Hatti Sydenham and Millie Goodwin both gave good performances on their league debuts.
