Goldolphin School teacher and England Cross Country International Colin Snook (Cornwall Athletic Club), continued to make his mark in the Masters ranks, winning the British Masters 10 mile road race title in Dorset last Sunday.

The Masters race was incorporated in the 26th Lytchett 10 miler, with Snook’s main opposition coming from Steve Way (Bournemouth AC), the England marathon international, who clocked a personal best of 2.15.16, when he finished tenth in the 2014 Commonwealth Games Marathon in Glasgow.

Snook takes up the story: “When I arrived, I noticed Way was running and I decided to track him for as long as I could. I started cautiously, as the course was described as hilly but the hills in this part of Dorset were more ‘bumps on the landscape’ compared to training at home.

"As the race developed, Way did not seem to be running too strongly and I decided to push the pace on the only serious climb, a one mile hill between six and seven miles. This move proved decisive and I moved quite easily into the lead and built up a one and a half minute winning margin by the finish, clocking 55m59s.
