FALMOUTH and Penryn Boxing Club’s Jake Jensen was in action at the Bodmin ABC show on Saturday night, his first competitive bout for the club in over a year, since reaching a three counties final in the Novice ABA Championships.

Jake's opponent was the hard hitting Nick Miller, from Carl’s Boxing Stable in Plympton.

Miller started strongly, pressing Jake with powerful shots from the opening bell, but, Jensen used his feet well, moving out of trouble and turning his opponent to land his own powerful counters, one of which left Miller on the receiving end of an eight-count early on.

From this point onwards, Jensen was in clear control of the bout and as the contest wore on, all traces of ring rustiness were polished off, with a unanimous points victory a mere formality for the Falmouth and Penryn man, to the delight of the large contingent from the Falmouth area who had travelled up in support.

This Saturday (27th) Falmouth and Penryn boxers are again in action, at the St. Just ABC show, in Penzance, with Jake Jensen, Jack Blackburn and Joe True looking forward to representing the club in preparation for the upcoming Falmouth show, which will be at the Dracena Centre on 19th March.

If you would like to train to get fit, or compete, Falmouth and Penryn Boxing club meet at the Dracena Centre on Tuesday evenings 7.30 to 9pm (seniors) and Wednesdays 5-6pm (juniors). All are welcome to join us, whatever your fitness level or experience.
