The Godolphin Snooker League Masters took place on Sunday at the Godolphin Club, Helston. The tournament was sponsored by Parklands Toyota Helston & Truro.
Pete Chegwidden defeated Antony Connor with crafty play before losing to Richard Gingell in the following round, although he made him sweat a couple buckets during the marathon battle. Steve Draper won on the final black against Mike Jacka in a close contest.
Jeff Crouch twice went in-off when Mike Jenkin needed snooker's but eventually got over the line but then came up against Chris Timmins in the quarter-finals who knocked in a 44 and 37 to cruise to victory.
Luke Fenton narrowly lost to Gingell in the quarter-finals after playing a brilliant up-and-down shot on the pink before missing a tough final black.
Draper and Ken Willoughby had a tussle on the final black, both having chances before Draper potted a long black. Gingell played solid snooker to defeat Peter May in the 1st semi final before Timmins made a 41 and two 30+ breaks beating Draper in the second semi-final.
The 1st frame of the final saw Gingell build a commanding lead and eventually winning the frame by a big 75 points, Timmins started the second frame needing to overcome a 95 point deficit and started with a 52 break to get back into the match, neither player deserved to lose but Timmins stole the title by potting brown,blue & pink. Ken Willoughby had the highest handicap break of the day with 55.
