PENRYN College have come out on top of the Cornwall School Games medal table for 2016.
The students competed in a range of activities over the week at a host of venues across West Cornwall, competing against the best athletes and teams from over 30 secondary schools.
Head of PE Kate Blackburn said, “We are extremely proud of our children’s efforts. As a school we invest a huge amount of time and energy into giving pupils an opportunity to compete at a variety of levels.
"This is obviously one of the pinnacles of our sporting calendar, so to see our names top of the medal table proves that time has been well spent. We have some extremely talented pupils across a wide range of sport, so full credit goes to them for this amazing achievement.”
The medal haul – which totalled 23 - was spread across a range of the School Games sports, but special mention must go to the gold medal winners which were gained in volleyball, table tennis and handball (x3).
The other medals were picked up in athletics, rowing and basketball across the week of sporting activity.
