England Golf has appointed Jamie Tresidder as the new County Development Officer for Cornwall.

Jamie, 30 years, comes into the job on the back of almost ten years of experience in a variety of sports development roles within Cornwall.

These have included working for Cornwall Council Leisure Service, the Dracaena Centre, Falmouth, StreetGames, which helps disadvantaged communities, and most recently Cornwall College, where he was employed as a College Sports Maker.

Jamie said: “I would like to take this opportunity to say a big hello and introduce myself to everyone involved in golf in Cornwall! I am extremely excited about starting this role and I am really looking forward to meeting with our clubs and working in partnership with all of those involved in the game in the county in order to continue to further develop golf in Cornwall. “

Having been well and truly bitten by the 'golf bug' three years ago, Jamie, who lives in Redruth, is a member at Tehidy Park GC where he is aiming to reduce his 21 handicap over the coming months.

As well as golf Jamie has other sporting interests regularly wearing the green and red rugby jersey for Lanner RFC and donning the cricketing whites for Mount Ambrose CC.

Jamie continued: “As the County Development Officer, it is my priority to develop strong community links and introduce golf to as many new audiences as possible as well as working very closely with all the clubs across Cornwall to encourage regular participation and increase rates of memberships. I will be getting in touch with all the clubs in the County over the coming weeks to arrange a time where we can meet and discuss how I can support the clubs and their continued development.”

“In the meantime, if there is anything I can help or support clubs with or you would simply like to get in touch then please don’t hesitate to contact me.”

Whilst employed by England Golf, Jamie will be part of the Cornwall Golf Development Group, formerly the Cornwall Golf Partnership.

CGDG Chairman Gerry Fitter said: "We welcome Jamie to his role and are looking forward to working with him as we all continue to try and bring new golfers to the game and endeavour to increase the health and secure the future of our affiliated clubs."
