Coverack Gig Club are celebrating another hugely successful year which saw the under-16 crew win the Cornish Pilot Gig Association Tribute Series and also being crowned champions at the Newquay County Championships.

The Coverack B crew also came out on top in the All Girls category at Newquay - a fantastic result for a crew which shows great promise for the future.

As the gig club grows in size, with there being very few opportunities for young people in the locality to engage in competitive sport, this combined with the success of the club's junior crews has meant that increasing numbers of young people are joining.

New adult members are also being recruited, which has meant that a new gig is required so that everyone has an opportunity to row regularly.

The club has recently launched a Crowdfunding bid to raise the final £5,000 required to complete the purchase the new gig, which is being built by Dave Currah, of Looe.
