Penryn Res 2, Falmouth Res 0
THIS derby match contest had added spice given the precarious position of the two teams in the Combination League.
The hosts recorded their fifth win of the season, following on from last week’s victory, which sees them jump ahead of Illogan in the table after their defeat at bottom club Newquay.
Chris Shackley hit the crossbar for the visitors after quarter of an hour before Liam Jarvis gave Penryn an interval lead when he converted a header from six yards.
Early in the second period the prolific Jason Roberts scored with a fine strike to double Penryn’s advantage.
Steve Retchford’s fierce shot bounced down on to the line off the underside of the bar as Town sought a response.
Shackley then hit the bar for Town again as they piled on the pressure, but they were unable to breach a well-organised home defence.
In Division 2, Falmouth Town racked up ten goals at struggling Storm to keep up their promotion tilt, while Falmouth DC slipped to their fourth defeat of the season in Division 3 when they went down 2-1 at home to St Day.
Mabe suffered a 6-0 home defeat to Probus.
