Falmouth Golf Club continued its popular Festival Week in glorious sunshine with the Seniors Open on Tuesday where the home trio of Chris Beer. Tony Annear and Bill Morton saw off all comers with a superb haul of 84 stableford points, writes Keith Rashleigh,

The Ladies took over the course on Wednesday, on another perfect day for golf.

First were Carol Mitcham. Brenda Arch. Wendy Plummer. 79pts. 2nd Donna Craig. Sue Short.Sally Ingle78pts. 3rd Liz Thomas. Theresa Brierley. Frankie Allsop 76pts.

A big thankyou to Angela Cortis owner of The March Hare Ladies Fashions.Who once again sponsored the Ladies 3 ball open at Falmouth Golf Club.Ladies Captain Jenny Dunstan presented Angela with a bouquet of flowers and thanked her for all the prizes. 63 ladies played in perfect conditions.

The only 2 for the day was by Jane Barrington, who received 30 golf balls.

After the ladies' competition, an 11 hole classic was well won by Robbie Edgson with 26 points.

Thursday saw a “Florida Scramble” which was comfortably won by Paul Martin. Larry Lynch. Nick Brown and Mr. N. Mills with a score 55.15.

Friday was the Texas Scramble played in teams of four where the visiting quartet of Martin Trewhella. Ron Ignaczak (Truro G.C.) with Neil Hocking and Steve Retallick (Killiow G.C. won with a score of 53.6. Runners up were the home quartet of Marek Churcher. Rob Eccleston. Andy Parry and Mark Butland with 55.0.

Saturday saw another “packed house” and not a cloud in sight as Grant Nicholls. Pete Chambers .Paul Kneebone and Ian “Henry” Churcher did Falmouth G.C. proud as they carded an untouchable 124 points (3 scores from 4 to count). Pete produced the shot of the week at the par 4 fifteenth when he wedged in for an “Eagle” two for a five pointer.

The week was brought to a close by club captain Scott Pedlar, who gave a long list of plaudits but especially to Director of Golf Steve Burrows, Wynne Woolcock for checking all the results and the greenkeeping staff, who presented the course in top condition.
