A SHARP shooting cue man from Falmouth has qualified to represent the England Seniors' pool team.

Jon Perrow travelled to Great Yarmouth in March for the England Senior trials, where he was the only competitor to win all six of his matches.

Five of his opponents were either present or past England players. Jon is the first man in 30 years from Cornwall to qualify to play pool for England.

One month after qualifying, he then travelled to Leicester for the Internal England Trials, where he had to play a round robin against all the other members of the England squad.

Over two days of intense competition, Jon managed to qualify to represent the England Men’s Senior A team in the World Championships, which start in Blackpool on Saturday and are spread over 10 days.

He will be hoping to help England win the World Team Championships and on a personal note, he is aiming to win the World Senior Singles title and the World Masters Senior title.

The 50 year-old travelled to Peterborough for his first ‘England Cap’ recently, where he managed to win nine out of 10 frames for his country.

He was the top performer over the two friendly matches played over the weekend.

Locally, Jon plays for The Cygnets in the Truro Pool League and has played for The Killigrew Inn in the Falmouth/Penryn Pool League, as well as representing Cornwall for the last 10 years or so.

Jon would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with Cornish Pool, his Cornwall team mates, the County Pool Committee, the leagues he plays in, the players and his friends and family who have supported and encouraged him in this incredible journey so far.
