Cornwall Blokarters held their annual open race meeting at Perranporth Airfield, as part of the BLSA (British Land Speedsail Association) National B-Race series.

The series consists of four events and the venues are in Cornwall, Somerset, Kent and Wales.

Most of the entrants in the Perranporth event are also competing in the other four events, which makes it great fun and very competitive.

The popular event attracted 27 Blokarts from all over the country, including David Hare, who travelled down from Scotland.

The racing was intense and very close with many positions having to be calculated on countback.

It attracted a number of spectators and despite the light wind, the action was fast and furious.

Penryn's Peter Williams, in his first ever competitive race, produced a superb performance to finish secon in the Light weight Production category.

The other Cornish competitors were Natasha Bobin (Penzance), Johan Bobin (Penzance), Oliver Jackson (Newquay).

The event consisted of 18 races over two days and speeds of close to 30mph were clocked up.

There are two categories of Blokarts, Production and Performance. The racers are also split into weight categories and the results were as follows:

Light weight Production: 1st Sarah Burn (Bracknell), 2nd Peter Williams (Penryn) 3rd Robin Smith (East Preston)
