HELSTON athlete Tracy Carroll has returned home from the World Transplant Games with four swimming medals.
Tracy was part of the 175-strong team from Great Britain and Northern Ireland that won an incredible total of 360 medals at the games in Malaga, Spain. 166 being Golds! This marks a fantastic achievement in a high-profile and competitive sports arena.
Carroll, who had a kidney transplant in January 2011, competed in the World Games for the second time and won two silver medals in 50m and 100m backstroke and two bronze medals in 50m and 100m freestyle.
She said: “I’m delighted with my performance at the World Games once again. The competition was of a very high standard so to come away with four medals in my five events I couldn’t be happier.
"These games show the world what a wonderful gift organ donation can be and encourages more of the public to sign up to the organ donor register, which ultimately saves lives.”
More than 50 countries from across the Globe took part in this spectacular celebration of life, with 1,300+ transplant athletes and donor families, joining hands to raise international awareness of organ donation.
