Molly Caudery, an 18-year-old student from Illogan, is swapping the classroom for the athletics track as she prepares to take on the Commonwealth’s best in Pole Vaulting at the Commonwealth Games 2018 as the youngest member of the England team.

Molly’s recent success at the SPAR Indoor Championships, where she walked away as the national indoor pole vault champion, and her recent personal bests of 4m40 and 4m50, leave big reasons to be excited for her performance in Australia at the games.

Pole vaulting since she was 10 years old, Molly has been working hard and building up to competitions such as the Commonwealth Games for a long time. Indeed, her goal of attending the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo is one step closer as she achieves the qualifying height in one of her most recent personal bests.

Alongside her training with her coach and father, Stuart, Molly works hard at Truro College by adding to her athletic ability through a BTEC Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science while also making the most of the College’s Elite Academy, which helps Molly with personalised training designed to help her strength and conditioning.

Before cheering Molly on at the Commonwealth Games, you can watch her Pole Vaulting journey through a video created alongside Truro and Penwith College as a part of a series following their students’ journeys.
