Cornwall won a one day game in Devon for only the second time on Sunday as they scraped home by one wicket, with Falmouth’s Glyn Furnival getting the winning run.

He joined Paul Smith with 19 still required for victory but in a tense finish the pair got Cornwall over the line.

They had been 43-6 at one stage in search of the 108 victory target with their lowest ever completed score in the competition, 105, looked under serious threat for much of the innings.

After being put in, Devon were soon in trouble at 18-3 with Furnival removing Liam Lewis and Matt Golding.

Matt Thompson made 20 and Sandy Allen 28 as the home side mustered 107 all out in the 29th over.

Following Dorset’s 105 in April, it is the second lowest completed score against Cornwall in competition history going back to 1983.

Kelvin Snell took three for 21 and Furnival three for 24 with Brad Wadlan picking up a brace.

The visitors made hard work of the response. Matt Rowe made 17 but from 28 for one a collapse saw five wickets fell for just 15 runs to give the Duchy the jitters.

Christian Purchase followed at 60-7 before either side of the lunch interval Snell, along with Paul Smith, gave hope.

Snell hit four boundaries in his 20 before he skied Zac Bess, with Tom Allin holding onto the catch.

Callum Wilson went a run later but Smith proved to be the Cornish side's hero with his 31 not out, which included a couple of vital sixes.

At the other end, last man Furnival survived eight balls before edging the winning run through the slips with 22 overs to spare.

Bess ended with five for 32.
