HELSTON completed just about the perfect weekend with a big home win over Roche on Monday.

They remain unbeaten in County Division One and share top spot with Callington after six games.

On Saturday they travel to Ludgvan, before hosting Callington in what promises to be a big game at Beacon Parc the following week.

Against Roche on Monday the batsmen dominated from the start as Dan Jenkin and Ross Leathley put on 92 for the first wicket.

Jenkin went on to make 86 before Chris Martin made 100 not out off 85 balls, with 12 fours.

Ben Rule played a supporting role with a knock of 49 as Lee Tarbuck took two for 68 for the visitors.

Roche were all out in 36 overs, with only opener Liam Dingle making much of an impression with 25.

Steve Jenkin and Werner Potgieter took three wickets each, with Gavin Tregenza and Steve Eddy picking up two each early on.

There was an equally impressive win at St Minver on Saturday where the home side were beaten for the first time this season.

After losing two early wickets, Ryan Pooley, 62, and Tom Shrewsbury, 44, made the bulk of St Minver’s 178, with Jenkin and Potgieter both taking two wickets.

Helston were seen home by an excellent innings from Ross Leathley, whose 60 not out came off 103 balls. Dan Jenkin made 37 and Ben Rule an unbeaten 26 in the seven wicket win.

Praze are leading the way in Division Two West after a pair of victories over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Tom James made 44 not out at Boscawen Park on Saturday to see his side to a six-wicket win over Truro seconds before St Ives were beaten by 16 runs at the Playing Field on Monday.

Damien Lynes top scored with 43 as Praze totalled 207, while Ben Tunnicliffe took four for 23 to help bowl St Ives out for 191.

These victories mean Praze have a two point lead at the top of the table over Paul.

Meanwhile, Mullion were beaten in both weekend games.

They made the big total of 239 at home to Mount Ambrose, with Ben Johnson making 92 not out, but Simon Blackburn responded with an unbeaten 134 for the visitors to steer them to a seven-wicket win.

In Monday’s derby at Constantine, the home side hit 261-7, former Mullion skipper Kevin Bosustow top scoring with 57 against his old club.

Charlie Hearn took four for 46 and Jim Pearson made 71 in Mullion’s reply of 171.

Wendron won at Hayle on Saturday after making 187-4 with Mark Mitchell making 52 not out before Ryan Whitbread’s four for 39 helped dismiss the hosts for 148.

Sadly Wendron’s first defeat of the season came at Mt Ambrose on Monday, where they made 166-8 with Antony Harris scoring 69.

Mount reached their target for the loss of five wickets.

Leedstown went down to two heavy defeats, losing at home to Mt Hawke & Porthtowan by 190 runs and then suffering a 119 run defeat at Botallack and St Levan on Monday.

Porthleven also suffered on Saturday, losing by nine wickets at home to Perranporth after making 168, but things got better at Camborne on Monday.

Darren Parish took three for 32 to bowl the home side out for 151, before Paul Combellack made 58 and Ronnie Williams 41 not out to see Port to a five wicket win.
