PREMIER Division opposition awaits Helston’s first and second teams in the quarter finals of the Vinter Cup.

Both sides will be away in the last eight of the Twenty20 competition with the Clodgey Lane outfit's top team going to Penzance, while the second eleven have been drawn away at Truro.

On Wednesday, Helston's first team progressed past Praze with an eight wicket victory set up after reducing the visitors to a total of 92-7 with Gavin Tregenza ending with figures of three for nine off four overs.

A half century from wicketkeeper batsman Chris Martin helped the hosts cruise to victory with just 11.5 overs used up.

Their seconds welcomed Mullion to their ground a day earlier and also managed to progress in a tighter affair, with just three runs separating the teams.

The home team batted first and made 122-5 with Karl Leathley top scoring with 29 not out.

Mullion chipped away at the total but ultimately fell short, with Mark Hall leading with the bat as he scored 23 while David Ratallack was the best bowler with figures of three for 21.

Falmouth's reward for beating their own second team is a tie at County Division One side Hayle.

Redruth will play defending champions St Just after winning a derby clash with Camborne by 12 runs on Thursday.
