ST GLUVIAS were given a scare at home to Gorran before coming out on top by 23 runs, with five overs still remaining.

It was their fifth win in seven starts as they have risen to a comfortable mid-table position.

The Saints had a fine opening stand of 154 with Ryan Dallimore making 63 and Jake Preston 83.

A trio of wickets fell cheaply before Jon Udy, 43, and Richard Kellow, 33, put on 76 and Scott Kellow finished unbeaten on 21 in the 283-6, with Dan Semple taking five for 88 from his ten overs.

Gorran’s Robin Kendall dominated to keep his side in contention, hitting eight sixes and 13 fours in his 131 off 94 balls.

He was eighth out, with 36 still required, to virtually settle the match.

Semple made 46 in a fourth-wicket stand of 75 before Preston, five for 35, took late wickets.

A win at St Minver on Saturday will see St Gluvias move above the North Coast club.

Title hopes remain at Praze as their bid for glory got back on track.

They trail Rosudgeon by 30 points but do have two huge games in the run-in with a local derby at home against second placed Troon at home on Saturday and will be well aware of the final day’s fixture at Rosudgeon.

After the previous week’s defeat, they got back to winning ways at the weekend with a big win at neighbours Crofty Holman.

It was a day for the Praze batsmen as Tom James, 45, and Ben James, 44, got them off to a good start.

Grant Rowe and Damian Lynes then set about the home attack to both make 86 not out in the 334-2.

Aaron Futcher, Ben James and Jevon Nolan picked up two wickets each as Crofty Holman were dismissed for 213.

Falmouth seconds lost at Division Two leaders Rosudgeon on Saturday, by the big margin of 118 runs.

Rosudgeon got 278-7 despite Liam Hoban only conceding 19 runs from his ten overs and picking up the wickets of David Gray, Liam Harvey and Matt Jacka in the process.

Jacob Stephens took three for 63, but in response Falmouth were bowled out for 160 off a full 50 overs.

Stephens made 38 and Dave Restorrick, making his debut, was 42 not out.

There was better news on Sunday with a 70-run home win over strugglers Gulval.

Webber took four for 31 and Ben Tann three for eight as St Ives collapsed to 69 all out.

Stithians host Crofty Holman this weekend.

Mullion remain in trouble in Division Three.

They did bat well at home to Perranarworthal to reach 234-8 despite losing Jonty Wheatley and skipper Dean Fletcher with only 23 on the board before the middle order profited.

Stephen Green led the way scoring 82 with Mark Hall, 31, Dan Johnson, 24, and Ryan Tonkin, 23, all making good efforts.

It was not enough however as Scott Martin’s 86 steered Perran to a six wicket win with five overs to spare.

Tonkin took two for 66 from eleven overs.

Mullion host Hayle seconds this weekend and are only eight points ahead of second from bottom Leedstown, who lost their derby at Hayle by six wickets.

Leedstown made 178-7 with the highlight the third wicket stand between captain Luke Stuckey, 64, and Liam Smitheram, who went on to make 50 not out.

Hayle won by six wickets with over ten overs remaining with the prolific Lee Bennet, 99 not out, just missing out on his third century of the season.

Alastair Cooper and Paul Glanville shared the four wickets.

Leedstown host promotion chasing Mount Ambrose on Saturday.

There were plenty of runs at Boulder Parc where Mt Hawke & Porthtowan chased down Constantine’s 234-8 to win by four wickets, with over six overs to spare.

Charlie Campbell made 73 not out after Kevin Bosustow had opened with 58.

An unbeaten century from Tom Williams saw the visitors home despite Graham Griffiths taking three for 38.

Wendron are one of the few teams in Division Three with, seemingly, nothing to play for after losing to leaders Goldsithney at Underlane by seven wickets on Saturday.

Sam Care made 47 and Russell Haynes 25 in the 131 all out, but Giles Lawrence hit 85 as Goldsithney raced to victory in 25 overs.

Wendron have a tough game this weekend at second placed Redruth.

Richard Bannister’s good form continued as he took five for 23 and made 71 not out as St Gluvias seconds won at Porthleven by seven wickets.

The skipper’s five-wicket haul was his fourth in as many games.

Mawnan lost at home in Division Six to league leaders Wendron seconds by five wickets after only making 109, with Barry Mercer scoring 22 runs and taking three for 14 with the ball.
