ST GLUVIAS conceded the double to St Minver with a 61 run defeat on the north coast.

This result means they are eighth in County Division One but 49 points clear of trouble, with four games to play.

Despite dangerman Cebo Tshiki making 36, St Minver lost regular wickets and were 109-6 at one stage.

Jonathan Centeni got a vital 53 before the last four wickets fell for nine runs as spinners Jon Udy and Phil Bostock took three wickets each with two for Andrew Julian.

The Saints’ innings was something of a procession with only Udy, who scored 49, impressing before he was eighth out at 86.

Andrew Julian, Jake Preston, Callum Hinchley and Matt Julian had all gone with 41 on the board as the seven home bowlers each took wickets.

Title hopes for Praze suffered a big blow on Saturday when they lost their top of the table home derby against Troon by the large margin of 136 runs.

They now trail leaders Rosudgeon by 42 points and with only four games to play, their chances of going up are probably dead.

Troon made the impressive score of 264 with Shane Richards top scoring with 55 and six batsmen passing the 20 mark.

Falmouth seconds have a 38 point gap between themselves and the relegation zone in Division Two following an excellent 50 run win at Truro.

Coming in at 25-2, Liam Hoban’s unbeaten 74 steered them to 192.

Truro got to 94-2 before Sohail Tariq took six for 35 from ten overs to bowl them out for 142.

For good measure, Hoban took three for 17 and Falmouth host bottom side St Ives in their next match on Saturday.

Similarly, Stithians also look safe from any late relegation fears after beating Crofty Holman by seven wickets.

The visitors only made 93 all out as Ryan Burley had an excellent spell taking four for 15 from 10 overs and Callum Martin and Ben Tann took two each.

Hugh Williams, 29, Nathan Strick, 27, and Kieren Webber’s 30 not out got the win in 17 overs.

Goldsithney’s surprise defeat to Botallack & St Levan has thrown the Division Three title race wide open again.

Constantine are in fourth spot, but only 15 points off the pace with four games to play.

With it looking likely that two eastern teams will come down from County One, third place could well be a promotion spot and Perranarworthal are in contention after a three wicket win over Mt Hawke & Porthtowan.

Mullion did their survival hopes a power of good in Division Three with a 19 run home win over Hayle seconds which means they now lead second from bottom Leedstown by 25 points.

They hit 231-7 with Steve Green making 71 and Dan Johnson 55 with the pair sharing a fifth wicket partnership of 105.

In a good batting effort, Mark Hall made 33 with Charlie Hearn and Ryan Tonkin both getting twenties.

Half centuries from Nigel Smitheram, 60, and Jamie Harvey, 64, threatened with a 134 run stand for the fourth wicket before the former was dismissed by Hearn at 179.

In a collapse the visitors lost their last seven wickets for 33 runs.

Tonkin was the hero taking five for 51 with Hearn getting two for 56. Mullion are at Wendron on Saturday.

Leedstown suffered an eight wicket home defeat to Mt Ambrose after being dismissed for 104 with Luke Stuckey top scoring with 37.

The Mount maintained their promotion push getting 105-2 as Mike Kent made 46 and Simon Johnson 42 not out.

Wendron fared little better at Redruth and were all out for just 80.

After losing five quick wickets, Ryan Whitbread made 26 before being run out and Jack Mitchell 15.

Caleb Rowe took three for 12 from 12 overs and Redruth knocked off the runs for two wickets inside 20 overs.

Tom Stevens was 29 not out with a wicket apiece for Ryan Mitchell and Tim Kitchen.

St Gluvias seconds remain on course for promotion after skipper Richard Bannister bagged a five wicket haul for the fifth week in a row, leading them to a 57 run win at home to Truro thirds.

They had found themselves in a precarious position early on as the visitors picked up the first four wickets for just seven runs.

A partnership of 79 between Sam Duckham, 42, and Neil Oliver, 23, got their team out of trouble at 7-4 and helped reach 145.

Truro failed to achieve this with Mark Atkins, 48, being the only player to reach double figures in their total of 88.

Porthleven got something of a surprise win at Helston seconds to dent the home side’s promotion hopes from Division Four.

They made 183 all out with Ronnie Williams carrying his bat for 49 while Neil Bartlett made 33 and Brad Bury 21.

Matthew Crapp took four for 50 and Ross Leathley three for 25.

Helston’s innings fell away to 105 all out after opener Leathley made 38.

Later on in the innings, Luke Clark and Matthew Lee made 15 apiece as Martin Duck took four for 24 from 12 overs.

There were two wickets each for Dylan Mitchell and Brad Bury.

Porthleven are seventh in the table but just two points from the top five.

They host Gulval seconds on Saturday whilst Helston have a vital game at third placed Perranporth, who are 13 points ahead of them.

In Division Five, Mullion seconds will have felt confident after bowling St Day out for 105, but were skittled themselves for 58.

Andrew Bonnett finished agonisingly on 99 not out as Porthleven seconds won their local derby with Helston thirds in Division Six by 78 runs.

Mawnan beat Praze seconds by eight wickets with Oliver Bennet Hughes top scoring with 31 not out.
