BRAD Wadlan said he has caught the Cornish bug as the cricketer looks to set up base in the Duchy.

Following Wednesday's victory in the Unicorn Trophy Final over Northumberland, it was announced by Cornwall CCC bosses the Welshman had agreed to stay on as the county professional for another season.

Alongside with this, the all-rounder has also confirmed he is looking to play his club cricket in Cornwall to make it easier for him to be closer with the team and his team-mates.

A number of clubs are said to be potential suitors for the Welshman with talks set to start in the next couple of weeks over where he will go.

Talking about the move, Wadlan said: "To play in Cornwall makes sense really.

"It would mean after a game for the county, I would be able to spend longer afterwards with the team rather than having to drive three hours back home.

"It would also give me the chance to watch more local cricket here and see if there are any players who I think could make a difference to the side."

The 26-year-old, who has previously played for Wales MC and Herefordshire, believes there is a lot of talent coming through in Cornwall which will only make the side stronger in the future.

He also said the atmosphere around the team is another reason why he has decided to stay with the Duchy.

"I have really enjoyed being around the lads," Wadlan said.

"They have all been fantastic to me this year and made me feel very welcome.

"Everyone has been fantastic this season and I think it will only get better in the years to come, so that is why I want to stay for another year and hopefully another two or three after that."
