Ahead of the 2016 season Cornwall Women have taken possession of their new coloured kit kindly sponsored by St Dominick based Burcombe Haulage Ltd.

Cornwall's kit was used for the first time in the away game against Dorset Women at Bournemouth which resulted in a comfortable 6 wicket win for the visitors.

Cornwall bowled first and reduced Dorset to 91 all out with all the bowlers contributing well and with the wickets being shared around.

In reply Cornwall batted sensibly against some tight Dorset bowling and the innings was held together by opener Caitlin Burnett's unbeaten 32. The win being secured in the 40th over.

Cornwall also played a fortnight later against Shropshire at Launceston and again bowled first on winning the toss.

A large score looked likely early on but the Cornwall spinners slowed the scoring rate, wickets began to fall and at the end of their 50 overs Shropshire had posted 126 for 7.

This should have been within the reach of Cornwall but they got off to a terrible start losing wickets regularly and in the end were bowled out for 45 with only three players reaching double figures.

This young Cornwall side will continue to improve and develop and they will next play Devon and Shropshire in the first of four rounds of T20 cricket at Budleigh Salterton on June 26.
